Small businesses across the Adelaide Plains, Gawler and Barossa regions have a unique opportunity to discuss their business issues directly with the Minister for Small and Family Business when she visits next week.

Minster Andrea Michaels will be hosting a Small Business Forum at Kapunda Football Club on Monday, 18 November from 8am to 9:30 am to hear directly from local small business owners about their challenges and discuss what support and funding is available.

Member for Light Tony Piccolo MP has heard from local small business owners about the difficulties rural businesses are facing given the rise of inflation and distance from resources in the CBD and encourages business owners and staff take advantage of this visit.

“Business owners can often feel isolated and confused as to who to turn to when encountering hurdles for their business, so this is their chance to be heard in person and identify where they can seek help,” said Mr Piccolo.

“The very dry conditions and recent frosts will have a huge impact on our farming and viticulture businesses in the region.

“There has been a lot of investment from State Government into giving businesses the resources and supports they need to succeed – this forum is about helping our business owners uncover the pathways available to resolve key issues.”

After coming to government, the Minister visited the region during our extensive state-wide consultation to develop the Strategy, which contains 20 initiatives designed to support small businesses to grow and overcome challenges.

Since the Strategy has been operational since July last year, the Minister is now undertaking a series of roundtables across regional South Australia to check in, discuss the programs available and answer any questions.

“I’m looking forward to meeting with small business owners in Kapunda and discussing the supports available through our Small Business Strategy,” said Minister Michaels.

“The Strategy represents a $14 million investment by the Malinauskas Government and has been designed specifically to assist small business owners to grow their businesses, seize opportunities and overcome challenges.

“Small businesses are the heart of regional communities, providing employment and bringing people together, and our government is committed to supporting them.”
