Local Member of Parliament, Tony Piccolo’s electorate office will once again become a South Australian Living Artists (SALA) venue for the August 2017 festival with young people taking pride of place.

Mr Piccolo said his second SALA exhibition has the title of “Light through Young Eyes”.

“The SALA initiative has come about as a result of my interest in the history of the area and I am keen to see how the community views the area and its people, through the medium of art,” Mr Piccolo said.

“This year young people will be invited to submit works of art, in any medium, of how they see any aspect of our community.”

“It can be its historical, natural or built environment, or the people who make the community what it is.

“It will be interesting to see how young people, through both their innocence and experience, see the local community.

“Exhibition space is limited so we would ask anyone interested to register as soon as possible and no later than Friday 16 June 2017 to enable us to confirm which works we can accept.

“Registrations should outline the artwork media and size. Painting should be no more than A1 in size and preferably A3.”

“While every attempt will be made to exhibit every artwork, we are limited by the wall and office space we have,” he said.

Young artists are encouraged to register their interest in being part of their exhibition by going online at http://www.tonypiccolo.org/contact

Artwork will need to be submitted for exhibition by no later than Friday 7July 2017 in preparation for the official launch.

Mr Piccolo said two prizes will be awarded at the end of the exhibition, one based on a judging panel and the other a peoples’ choice prize.

The exhibition will run from 1-31 August and can be viewed 9am-5 pm, Monday to Friday.
