The inaugural Essentials Day saw a wide array of more than 30 essential services and providers gather at the Clare Town Hall to connect with and support the local community.
The initiative enabled local residents to gather information and ask questions regarding multiple services in the one location, including government services, housing, financial support, legal advice, transport, employment, training, mental health and family support.
Labor Duty Member for Frome, Tony Piccolo MP, and his staff were part of the free event as one of the exhibitors, and was full of praise for the Workforce Australia Local Jobs Mid North SA Program’s pilot event.
"Essentials Day is a fantastic initiative that provides the community with a one-stop opportunity to access a variety of essential services," Mr Piccolo said.
“It's a great way to let people know about the supports and services available to them and allows residents to connect with multiple services in one place while getting to build a relationship with the staff behind the services.
“From an advocacy perspective, it was wonderful to hear from local residents about the issues they face and discuss ways we can help.
“These events support individuals and strengthen our community by fostering connections and sharing vital information – not only with residents, but between different organisations as well so we can all work better together in the community.”
