The biggest weekend of the Business Gawler 2024 Arts on the Plains Festival starts this Friday, 30 August as 16 of the exhibitions and events have their doors open to the public.
Four events - Latte Art (Sunday, 1st September, from 11am-2pm), Miniature Painting Tutorials (Saturday 31 August, all day), Gawler Community House Interactive Events Day (Saturday, 31 August, 10am-2pm) and Embroiderers Guild of SA Gawler Branch (Friday, 30 August to Monday, 2 September) – launch exclusively for this weekend only.
Member for Light, Tony Piccolo MP, said with majority of the displays and activities available this weekend, now is the perfect opportunity for our community to explore the arts in the region.
“Businesses are keeping their doors open specifically to make this weekend one big exhibition for those who have yet to see the works of our creative artists,” said Mr Piccolo.
“This festival is a chance for artists to express themselves, showcase their hours of work and I encourage the community to show their support through visiting one of the many events on offer.
“Our community, local businesses and volunteers have invested heavily into making Arts on the Plains possible to not only show an appreciation for the arts and artists in our region but also to give anyone keen on art, a blank canvas to create and present in our community.”
There are a wide range of arts and interactive activities on offer from hand-embroiled textiles, paintings and photography to poetry, cake decorating and Lil Mumma’s Café baristas flaunting their latte art skills.
Mr Piccolo as a connoisseur of coffee is encouraging coffee drinkers to put the baristas to the test, and request their preferred work of art.
“As I understand it, they can request unicorns, seahorses and a range of flowers amongst other latte creations,” said Mr Piccolo.
