The outstanding customer service and experiences businesses deliver was celebrated at the inaugural annual Southern Barossa Business Awards, with 10 local businesses proving to be standouts in their categories.

Hosted by the Southern Barossa Business Group (SBBG) at the Sandy Creek Golf Club on Wednesday night, 39 businesses earned enough public votes to be finalists on the night across 10 categories (Cellar Door/Brewery, Club or Community Group, Event, Hospitality Business, Professional Services, Health & Beauty Business, Tourism Business, Trades & Services, Retail, Accommodation and Most Votes).

State Member for Light and Labor Duty Member for Schubert, Tony Piccolo MP, who was the special guest for the night, said, “with more than 1200 votes received, these awards highlight the positive impact local businesses have on their customers and the community more broadly.”

“As our region undergoes upgrades and prepares for upcoming events, it’s crucial for businesses to leverage the anticipated customer surge.

“These events are key in showcasing their offerings, ensuring that people choose to stay and explore within our region instead of seeking alternatives elsewhere.”

The big winners of the night were Brett and Dayna Reimann from Ministry of Beer in Lyndoch, who not only won their Cellar Door/Brewery category, but also took home the Most Votes award.

SBBG Chair Steve Balch said while the winners and runners up of the night should be celebrated, the night was designed to showcase the special place businesses have in the hearts of the Southern Barossa community.

“We had 162 businesses nominated across all the categories and 88 people here at the dinner tonight – which is a fantastic response from the community as a whole in our first event,” Mr Balch said.

“We started four years ago as a committee and while people knew about the cellar doors, there was a lack of understanding of how diverse and significant the local business community was – tonight they were not only highlighted, but it gives them an opportunity to network and trade with each other.

“We want to make it clear to the people in our community that we’ve got a great business community, and we’re really positioned to fly with the exciting developments, including the Lyndoch Recreation Park Upgrade in preparation for Gather Round.
