Craft beer lovers across the Gawler region have found their new watering hole since Gawler River Brewing opened their doors last month.

Local owner and craft creator Aaron Howse and his family have been blown away by the support as most weekends have seen this shed at 1029 Dawkins Rd fully booked.

“Everyone from the community has been coming and they’re just really good people, telling us that this brewery is exactly what our region has needed,” said Mr Howse.

“This was meant to just be a retirement venture with my wife (Diane Howse) – we just wanted to ease into it with a nice, quiet launch and work on the brewery from there, but it didn’t happen as social media and word of mouth has been nuts and we’re very thankful.

The family are on deck as well, with Jade Howse and her partner Brandon Zanetic working behind the bar and managing the venue.

With 20 different staff members on their books already, Member for Light, Tony Piccolo MP, is thrilled the brewery has added strength in another area of business within the Gawler community.

“It’s inspiring to see our community come together to support this new brewery and create a new social hub in the region,” said Mr Piccolo.

“This story hopefully ignites the entrepreneurial spirit in some of our residents as well because small business is the driving force of our local economy.”

Mr Howse is a familiar face in the region, having grown up in and operated the nursery “Worrall Gardens” in Kudla before getting his building licence and spending 16 years as a general builder.

But his love of beer urged Mr Howse to start brewing his own crafts at home in his shed a few years ago, where his passion for the craft grew.

“So, when we bought this land, I decided it’d be a good place for this nice little brewery,” said Mr Howse.

“With a huge effort from close friends, my family and I have been able to build the whole Brewery – the shed and everything in it.

“The walls and our pathways are built from locally sourced limestone, and we’ve got 600 square metres of lawn in for the kids, and they love it.”
