A key component of the redevelopment of Evanston Gardens PriMary School was recently completed with the opening of a new building housing 4 class rooms and open learning areas. Work on the $6 million redevelopment commenced at the start of this year.
Local Member Tony Piccolo said that he was pleased that the school could now utilise the modern facilities that this building provides.
“The new building enables teachers to conduct lessons using modern teaching techniques by utilising impressive new technologies.” Mr Piccolo said The redevelopment of the school will also provide updated administrative and library facilities to cater for future growth of up to 480 students.
“The historic library will now undergo a major conversion into a new administration centre for the school,” Mr Piccolo said.
“While the current administration building will be redeveloped into the new school library. “The new facilities have received the thumbs up from the whole school community,” he said.
The school’s population is expected to grow due to the establishment of new housing estates in Evanston Gardens and Evanston South.
The redevelopment of Evanston Gardens PriMary School was funded as a part of the Construction and Urban Renewal Projects for Northern Adelaide, a key focus for the State Government.
School Principal Ms Libby Clift said the new building will enable classes to work collaboratively together due to the flexible design of the building.
“A new library and administration building will make a big difference and we will be able to build on the best of our heritage, into the future,” Ms Clift said.
The school opened in 1908 and the redevelopment will ensure that it has a bright future.
