Educators in the Northern suburbs have been shown appreciation for their efforts in a heartfelt gesture from Member for Light, Tony Piccolo MP, during World Teachers’ Day.
The local member hand-signed and distributed more than 600 certificates to teachers across 10 different schools to recognise the dedication and hard work of educators.
Mr Piccolo said he wanted to show that the invaluable contributions teachers make to the community and the lives of their students does not go unnoticed.
“World Teachers' Day is a special occasion to acknowledge the incredible impact that teachers have on our society," said Mr. Piccolo.
"It's an honour to celebrate their dedication and commitment to nurturing the minds of our future generations.”
Gawler and District College, Gawler East Primary School, Gawler Primary School, Immanuel Gawler, Mark Oliphant College, Northern Adelaide Senior College, Playford College, St Patrick’s Technical College, Trinity College North and Trinity College South all nominated their teachers for certificates following Mr Piccolo’s callout.
Mr. Piccolo was also invited to attend celebrations at Gawler Primary School, St Patrick’s College and Northern Adelaide Senior College today, where he had the opportunity to present certificates in person and join in the festivities.
Mr. Piccolo expressed his admiration for the unwavering passion and resilience of teachers.
“You hear some of the stories from the educators and despite some of the challenges and difficult days, it’s the reward of seeing students succeed and being that person to help guide them that keeps them going,” said Mr Piccolo.
“They play a crucial role in shaping the future of our children and our community and it’s essential that we continue to support and appreciate their efforts, not just on World Teachers' Day, but every day."
