Last Saturday night, 24 September, the BMX track came of age when the new LED lights were official turned on.

With a realigned track, new surface and bituminised berms, the track is now one of the best tracks in the northern suburbs. There are bigger and steeper jumps and riders on Saturday night were out in large numbers to celebrate the upgrade, despite the inclement weather. The upgraded track surface means competitions can be held year round, with a lot less preparation work for volunteers. Local Member, Tony Piccolo MP, said he was extremely pleased with the efforts of the Club executives to secure both Federal and State funding which has enabled the club to design and build a year round track. “The club’s membership is around 200 children and is very family focusses with many families where one or both parents compete along with their children. In one family there are three generations of members who compete regularly. “The Club also has a strong focus on encouraging girls to participate and the number of children with disabilities such a partial blindness, motor function disorders and mild to severe autism is steadily increasing” said Mr Piccolo.
