A wave of more than 10 new entrants will hit Gawler’s Murray Street in front of families at this year’s Villawood Gawler Christmas Parade.
One of the new entrants is the Gawler BMX Club, with secretary and social media manager Jess Boxall and her committee deciding to be involved to give members “an opportunity to take part in a great community event while enjoying and showing off our great sport.”
“Who doesn’t love Christmas?!” said an enthusiastic and bemused Ms Boxall.
“I think these parades are such a core childhood memory, so being able to give our members a chance to be part of the Christmas spirit on their bikes is such a great way to finish up our year.
“We have a broad range of members across all ages, from 2 years and beyond, and we have aimed to provide a fun enjoyable community at our club over the last 2 years.”
Member for Light, Tony Piccolo MP, is excited to see what the new entrants bring to the show after a successful return of the parade last year.
“The new themes and entertainment will only bring more enjoyment for the families attending and encourage everyone to improve on last year as fresh ideas are shared,” said Mr Piccolo.
“There is a lot of excitement behind the scenes as the newbies, while quite embedded in our community, have never experienced such big crowds and we expect thousands to return to the street and children roaring from all sides.
“They’re heard all the positive feedback and fun last year’s participants have - hence why many of them are back again for this year - and we’re all excited to get out there again in November.
“With the addition of the Gawler Apex Club Christmas Markets on the same day this year, the event is already set to be even bigger and better than 2023.”
Close to 40 different organisations are set to take part in the parade this year, while more than 60 stalls and 10 food stalls are expected at the markets in Apex Park from 5-9pm.
The Parade will commence at 7pm on Saturday, 30th November 2024, before all participants head to Apex Park for more festivities including the Gawler Light Rotary Christmas lights display from 8:45pm.
